Skincare Clarity (“we”, “us” or “our”) is an independent, INCI-first skincare information website for sensitive and reactive skin. This Privacy & Cookie Policy explains how we handle personal information, how we use cookies and similar technologies, and what rights you have under UK data protection law.
Skincare Clarity operates primarily as an editorial guide, so we aim to collect as little personal information as possible.

We collect personal information only in limited circumstances.
Information you provide voluntarily
If you contact us through our contact form or by email with a question, correction, suggestion or other enquiry, we will collect your contact details and any information you choose to include in your message. We use this information to respond to you and manage the enquiry.
Information collected through analytics
If you consent to analytics cookies, Google Analytics 4 may collect information such as pages viewed, interactions with the website, session statistics, approximate location, browser type and device information. We use this information to understand how people use Skincare Clarity and to improve the website and its Ingredient Library.
We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, contact-form content or other directly identifying information to Google Analytics. For users in the United Kingdom, European Union and Switzerland, Google states that IP-address data is used solely to derive approximate location and is discarded before Analytics data is logged.
Newsletter
We do not currently operate a newsletter or mailing list. If this changes, we will update this Privacy & Cookie Policy before collecting newsletter subscriptions.
Affiliate links
Affiliate product links and affiliate measurement are not active on Skincare Clarity at launch. When affiliate links are introduced, clicking one may take you to a third-party retailer or affiliate network that processes information under its own privacy and cookie terms. Before Skincare Clarity enables affiliate measurement on this website, we will update our cookie controls and this Privacy & Cookie Policy.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information only where there is a clear reason to do so.

We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making, profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects, personalised advertising or selling personal information to third parties.

Necessary cookies are required to operate the website, maintain security or record and communicate your cookie choices. They cannot be switched off through the cookie preference centre because the site needs them to respect the choice you make.
Google Analytics 4
We use Google Analytics 4, provided by Google, to understand general website use. Analytics may measure information such as visitor and session numbers, pages viewed, approximate location, browser and device information, scrolling, outbound-link clicks and other website interactions.
Analytics cookies are optional. They are stored only after you give analytics consent through the cookie banner or the control. If you refuse analytics, the website does not set or read the _ga cookies.
Site Kit uses Google Consent Mode. When analytics consent is denied, Google tags may send limited consent-status and technical signals without using Analytics cookies. These signals may support aggregated measurement and modelling. For users in the United Kingdom, European Union and Switzerland, Google states that IP-address data is used solely to derive approximate location and is discarded before Analytics data is logged.
Google Analytics user-level and event-level data is configured to be retained for a fixed period of 14 months. The retention period is not reset when the same user returns. Standard aggregated reports may remain available beyond that period in accordance with Google Analytics reporting systems.
We do not use Google Analytics for personalised advertising or remarketing, and Skincare Clarity is not connected to Google Ads or AdSense at launch.

5. Managing your cookie choices
You can accept, reject or customise optional cookies through our cookie banner. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time by selecting in the website footer.
You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Deleting the necessary consent cookies may cause the cookie banner to appear again so that the website can record a new choice.
Rejecting optional cookies will not prevent you from reading the Green List, Red List, Ingredient Library, Product pages or Methodology content. It will limit the direct Analytics information available to us.
6. Data sharing, third parties and international transfers
We do not sell, rent or trade your personal information.
We may share limited information with trusted service providers where needed to operate the website, respond to users, maintain security or understand site performance.
These may include:
- Google: to provide Google Analytics 4 after analytics consent and to operate Consent Mode;
- website hosting, form, email-delivery and security providers: to keep the website online, process enquiries and protect it from misuse;
- professional advisers or authorities: where required by law or where necessary to protect our legal rights.
Google and some other service providers may process information outside the United Kingdom, including in the United States. Google states that it relies on UK adequacy regulations, including the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework where applicable, and on standard contractual clauses where a transfer is not covered by an adequacy decision. Other providers may rely on an applicable UK adequacy regulation, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, or another safeguard permitted by UK data protection law. External websites operate under their own privacy policies. Once you leave Skincare Clarity, the operator of the external website is responsible for how it handles your personal information.
7. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
- Contact-form and email enquiries: kept for as long as needed to respond and manage the enquiry, then deleted or archived when no longer required.
- Google Analytics data: user-level and event-level data is configured for a fixed 14-month period. Standard aggregated reports may remain available for longer. Analytics cookies may remain on your device for up to two years unless you delete them, withdraw consent or your browser applies a shorter limit.
- Cookie-consent information: the main CookieYes consent cookie remains for up to one year, while WP Consent API status cookies remain for up to 30 days.
- Legal or administrative records: kept for as long as required to meet legal, tax, accounting or dispute-resolution obligations.
8. Your data protection rights
Under UK data protection law, you have rights over your personal information. Depending on the circumstances, these may include the right to:
- request access to the personal information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete personal information;
- ask us to delete your personal information where the right to erasure applies;
- ask us to restrict how we use your personal information;
- object to certain types of processing;
- withdraw consent where we rely on consent, including for analytics cookies;
- request data portability where applicable.
You have the right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests. You can also withdraw consent at any time where consent is our lawful basis. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office if you are unhappy with how your personal information is handled. We would appreciate the chance to respond to your concern first, but you are not required to contact us before contacting the Information Commissioner’s Office.
9. Children’s privacy
Skincare Clarity is a general-audience information service and may be used by teenagers. We do not offer user accounts, public profiles, direct messaging, personalised advertising or behavioural profiling, and optional analytics is disabled unless consent is given.
We apply the same privacy-protective defaults to all visitors. Children should not include unnecessary personal information in a contact message. A parent or guardian may contact us at hello@skincareclarity.com with a question or request concerning a child’s personal information.
10. Third-party links
Skincare Clarity contains links to external retailer websites and other third-party sites. Once you leave our website, we do not control how those websites collect, use or protect your personal information.
We encourage you to review the privacy and cookie policy of any retailer or third-party website before creating an account, completing a purchase or sharing personal information.
11. Changes to this Privacy & Cookie Policy
We may update this Privacy & Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the website, service providers, analytics tools, affiliate arrangements, legal requirements or our data practices.
When we make changes, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
