What we prioritise
A cleanser does not need to foam heavily to work. We look for effective cleansing with the least unnecessary disruption to skin comfort, judged in the context of the whole formula.
Gentle cleansing system
The surfactant blend should remove sunscreen, makeup and daily residue without relying on an unnecessarily harsh wash base or a foam-heavy feel.
Comfort after rinsing
We look at tightness, residue, fragrance and supporting humectants or soothing ingredients, because a mild-looking cleanser still has to feel comfortable in regular use.
Ingredients we look for
These are useful signals rather than requirements. Cleansers are rinse-off products, so the overall surfactant system and how the formula behaves matter more than the presence of any single soothing ingredient. Cocamidopropyl betaine suits many users, but a small minority react to it; decyl glucoside may be an alternative where that specific sensitivity is known, although neither surfactant is universally tolerated.
